Twin Pine Taxidermy actually started when Jonathan began skinning and mounting the game he collected on his trapping and early hunting jaunts in his youth. At the tender age of 12 or so, he obtained a taxidermy course by barter and began what would become his lifelong pursuit. After a tour of duty with the U.S.Navy, he opened his taxidermy business in 1971 with his wife, Evelyn, at his side. I recall hearing from her "If you can't beat 'em, join em" and she has been equal partner ever since. After a two year apprenticeship both contingued their pursuit in the art by attending seminars and competitions, ,We attained enough points to achieve the coveted Master certification for Jonathan and professional cert. in gameheads, reptiles and lifesize for Evelyn.
We feel blessed to have an occupation that we both can share. Each completeing the other ,checking each others work and bouncing ideas off each other. We each have our niche .Ev's specialties are bear (lifesize, rugs, and shoulders), exotics, coyotes small game and game head prep. Jon's prefered areas include gameheads, basework, birds, fish, mannikin prep, alterations, sculpting, antler art and finishing.
